November 20 is National Child Day in Canada, a day to celebrate the rights of children everywhere to live happy, healthy lives, and to support them in reaching their full potential. To celebrate, the City of St. John’s is offering free events and programs from November 15 to 20 at various community centres. Events include Youth Drop-In Programs, Everyone Welcome Swims and Active Playgroup.
Two lucky elementary students from local schools will also be chosen to Meet the Mayor and read the National Child Day proclamation at the Council Meeting on November 4 at 3 p.m.
We will also celebrate with our annual Move it Family Fun Event at Kenmount Terrace Community Centre on Saturday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to noon. Activities will include games, bouncy castles and a sensory-friendly zone. Mascots may be present.
On National Child Day (November 20), the City of St. John’s encourages everyone to wear blue in support of this important day.
