The new collective agreement, which is effective from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2026, includes a total wage increase of 7% over four years. The agreement also includes new language to enhance operations of the SJRFD and benefit IAFF members.
"We are proud to have worked together in a constructive and professional manner to achieve an agreement that benefits both our employees and the Department," said Fire Chief Sherry Colford. “This agreement ensures a positive and sustainable future for our organization and supports our commitment to creating a great workplace for all our employees."
“The professionalism and collaborative approach demonstrated by both the City and the Association’s bargaining teams enabled us to successfully negotiate a new collective agreement,” said Craig Smith President IAFF Local 1075 St. John's Fire Firefighters Association. “This contract will bring significant benefits to our members and the department, positively impacting all divisions of the SJRFD. It positions us to continue delivering even more efficient and professional services to the communities we serve. Our Executive Board is enthusiastic about future initiatives and looks forward to working alongside SJRFD management to achieve our shared goals.”
