The City of St. John’s is reminding property owners that 2026 Property Assessment Notices were mailed in May. If you have not yet received your assessment notice, please contact the Assessment Division as soon as possible.
Property owners can also view their current and previous year property assessments online via our Property Assessment Search Application. If you disagree with your property’s assessed value, there is a formal appeal process available through the Assessment Review Court. The appeal deadline is August 8, 2025. Appeals cannot be accepted after this date.
Before submitting an appeal, we encourage property owners to contact our staff to discuss any questions or concerns. In many cases, issues can be resolved without proceeding to a formal appeal.
To speak with someone about your assessment, contact the City’s Assessment Division at 709-576-8929 or assessment@stjohns.ca.
If you are filing a notice of appeal, please return the completed appeal form in person at the Access Centre, City Hall (10 New Gower Street), or by courier to ensure it is received before the deadline. Appeals must include both the completed form and the required fee.
