The snow mostly stopped by 4 a.m. with reported accumulations of approximately 46-48 cm. All streets are expected to be cleared by noon on Wednesday, February 4. Roads and sidewalks are completed based on priority order, and residents can check the priority rankings at StJohns.ca/ServicePriority.
Snow removal and street widening are required in many areas, which will commence in the coming days as weather permits. We are closely monitoring the situation and assure you we will address the needs on a priority bases. There is no need to call and request street widening or snow removal.
We also would like to remind all residents and contractors to not place snow from driveways or parking lots back into the street or on sidewalks. This creates major challenges and slows down snow clearing operations significantly.
Many sidewalks will require large snow blowers and/or snow removals, which means it will take longer than five days to address all areas. Crews will continue to focus on priority areas. Crews are working as fast as possible, however it is important to remember that there are over 1,400 lane kms of road that require clearing during a snow event and 193 kms of sidewalk, which does take time.
The Weather-Related Parking Ban outside the Designated Downtown Area and Business District came into effect on Monday, February 2 at 7:30 a.m.
On-street parking is prohibited 24-hours a day until the ban is lifted. Vehicles parked on the road during this time may be ticketed or towed.
An update will be issued to confirm when the parking ban will be lifted. Subscribe to receive updates to your email.

Access St. John’s is available to residents 24 hours a day, seven days a week by email at access@stjohns.ca, by phone at 311 or 754-CITY (2849) or online. We ask that residents wait until after the service delivery timelines to submit general inquiries regarding snow clearing to allow staff to focus on cleanup efforts.
