Cruise Ship Season 2025 officially kicks off in the City of St. John’s on Wednesday, May 21, as we welcome passengers and crew of Silver Dawn to the Port of St. John’s. Silver Dawn of Silver Seas Cruise Line is scheduled to dock in St. John’s Harbour at 1 p.m. with approximately 660 people on board.
The City together with the St. John’s Port Authority and industry partners is preparing for a vibrant and busy 2025 cruise season. Between May and October, 39 ship visits are scheduled from 18 cruise lines. More than 39,000 passengers are expected to arrive, bringing a welcome boost to the local economy and increased international exposure for the province’s capital city.
“We’re excited for the upcoming 2025 cruise season and look forward to welcoming guests from around the world to experience the warmth, history, and natural beauty of our city,” said Councillor Jill Bruce. “Cruise tourism not only delivers a significant economic impact, but it also gives us the opportunity to showcase everything that makes St. John’s so unique and special.”
St. John’s is quickly becoming an internationally preferred cruise destination. A wide variety of cruise lines include the Port of St. John’s on their cruise itineraries as both a home port and in-transit port of call. The port regularly welcomes cruise vessels on itineraries travelling on trans-Atlantic (North), Adventure Expedition, Canada-New England and/or home-porting itineraries.
Cruise ship arrivals and departures are subject to various factors including marine conditions and ships’ schedules. They may be cancelled or postponed at any time, without notice, due to unforeseen circumstances. For the most up-to-date information on cruise ships coming to the City of St. John’s, please call the Cruise Line at 709-576-8333.
The public is reminded that parking is limited on Harbour Drive during cruise ship visits to accommodate tour operators and other passenger transportation. However, alternate parking remains available in other areas throughout the Downtown. Alternate parking options include parking garages and lots. It is important to note the parking restrictions in these areas as they may differ from City restrictions or other locations.
