Today, City Council met with representatives of Metrobus to discuss the issue of the bus shelter outside The Gathering Place. Council and Metrobus agree this bus shelter must stay in place for the time being.
There are ongoing safety and service issues associated with this shelter that must be addressed. City staff, together with representatives of the St. John’s Transportation Commission, will be reaching out to The Gathering Place to develop a plan for the management of this bus shelter.

Preparing for this summer’s Downtown Pedestrian Mall: focusing on safety, accessibility and consistency.
What began as a way to promote community connections and help businesses in the downtown during the pandemic is fast becoming a staple of the St. John’s summer.
On February 8, Council will be considering a decision note recommending a long-term commitment to the Downtown Pedestrian Mall as well as some changes to ensure long-term success for this popular initiative.

The eastbound lanes on Kenmount Road in front of Hickman Chevrolet (87 Kenmount Rd) will be closed Monday, Feb 6, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to facilitate construction. Please adhere to all traffic control signage.

Updated as of 1 p.m. February 4: Portugal Cove Road from Airport Heights Drive to Old Broad Cove Road has now reopened to traffic. The City thanks the public for their cooperation.
Original Advisory: The section of Portugal Cove Road from Airport Heights Drive to Old Broad Cove Road is closed, due to heavy drifting. Manned barricades are in place. Please avoid this area or approach with extreme caution.
The road will reopen when heavy drifting subsides.

Due to forecasted weather conditions, Robin Hood Bay Residential Drop Off (RDO) will be closed Saturday, February 4.
The Residential Drop Off will reopen Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 8 a.m.
The Commercial landfill will be open Feb. 4, 2023 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m

Winter is here and possible storms could leave you without power or water. Are you prepared for at least 72 hours?

Motorists are advised that Springdale Street, between Water Street and George Street West, will be closed from Feb 6 to Feb 17 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to facilitate the ongoing construction of the JAG Hotel. A traffic detour will be in place.
