By-Law Restricts Dates and Times for Fireworks

Residents are reminded of a Fireworks By-Law that came in 2021, which states that family fireworks are only allowed on New Year’s Eve and Canada Day from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. the following day.
Family fireworks consists of low-hazard fireworks used for recreational use. Family fireworks are prohibited all other days and times throughout the year unless a Special Event approval is obtained, or on other days that are declared by Council. Any aerial fireworks and pyrotechnics will require...

Due to the upcoming holidays most City offices and facilities are closed;
- Noon on Friday, Dec. 23, re-opening on Wednesday, Dec. 28
- Noon on Friday, Dec. 30, re-opening on Tuesday, Jan. 3
The next City Council meeting takes place at 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9 and the next Committee of the Whole meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Scheduled Blast at Robin Hood Bay: December 21

The City of St. John’s advises the public that a scheduled blast will occur at Robin Hood Bay on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 8 a.m. The blast was originally planned for Sunday, Dec. 18, but was re-scheduled due to weather.
The blast is happening on the east end of the landfill site in the quarry area. The purpose of the blast is for rock production as part of a recent contract awarded to Capital Ready-Mix.
