The City of St. John's grants and subsidies program makes available financial and other resources to nonprofit groups, organizations and individuals whose programming supports the City’s strategic directions.
For 2023, community grants total $1,233,075 and capital grants total $ 482,000 plus $51,086.77 in waived permit fees.
This year’s program provides assistance to 124 community groups and organizations and 62 individual artists. 27 recipients are new for 2023.

Today, City Council voted to approve the capital budget for 2023, totaling $17,329,041. Capital projects cover a wide range of services including transportation improvements, water and sanitary service upgrades, housing projects, capital grants to community groups, snow clearing equipment and playground infrastructure.

The City of St. John’s is seeking performers for the 2023 special events season. Our annual Call for Performers helps the City program arts and cultural performances for special events like the Music @ concert series, Dockside welcomes and other City of St. John’s hosted events and festivals.

On Monday, August 22, thousands of fans crowded the streets of downtown St. John’s to get a glimpse of Stanley Cup champion Alex Newhook.
