Street Rehab - August 12 to 17

Contractors may be working on the following streets from August 12 to 17 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:
Albany Street
Brier Avenue
Cadet Road
Cavendish Square
Columbus Drive (near Thorburn Road intersection)
Cornwall Avenue
Cornwall Heights
Lane Reductions & Sidewalk Closures - University Avenue & Prince Philip Drive

7:00 a.m. Monday, August 12 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5
Motorists are advised there will be various lane reductions in place at the intersection of University Avenue and Prince Philip Drive to facilitate construction works associated with the University Avenue Storm Sewer Upgrades project.
Traffic slowdowns and delays will be experienced, and motorists are advised to seek an alternate route if possible. Signage will be in place and flag persons will be on site.

To facilitate the St. John’s Triathlon the following lane reductions will be in place on Sunday, August 11
Portugal Cove Road (from City Limits to Airport Heights Drive)
Airport Heights Drive (to intersection of Portugal Cove Road at Major’s Path)

Cruise Ship Celebrity Eclipse arrives August 8

The Celebrity Eclipse with 3013 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 7 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, and depart at 6 p.m.

The City of St. John’s is thrilled to announce the launch of Trail Explorers, an active living program designed for all members of our community. This initiative provides an opportunity to explore parks and trails, while promoting health, wellness, and community connection.

To facilitate the Provincial work on the Viaduct the right turn off Hamilton to Job Street will be closed from 130 p.m.., August 6 to 6:00 pm., August 9. Motorists requiring access to Water Street west must proceed down Hamilton Avenue to Water Street to head west.
