Driveways and Property Enhancements

Are you doing sitework on your property? This may include:

creating or extending a driveway
placing fill
erecting a retaining wall
creating a walkway

You will need a building permit. Find out more about rates and fees for permits.

If you are repairing your driveway or a feature like a rock wall on your property you need a repair permit. Repair permits are issued when minor work is being carried out without any structural changes taking place. They can sometimes be issues right away but could take two to five days.

Apply for a building permit

In addition to a completed application, you will need to include:

A legal survey of the property in order to determine exactly where the work is to be done.
A structural drawing, if applicable.
If extending or installing a new driveway a street excavation permit is required. There is a fee for this permit which is a separate charge.
An estimate of the cost of work to determine the permit cost.

Permits for sitework can sometimes be issued right away if they meet all of our regulations, but they could take up to 10 working days if an inspection and/or plan review are required.
