Changes to Fire Risk Communication

To help reduce confusion and streamline communication, the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) will no longer issue separate fire advisories. Instead, we encourage all residents to regularly check the Provincial Fire Hazard Map provided by the Department of Fisheries, Forestry, and Agriculture and to follow the associated guidelines.

Seniors Party in the Park Scheduled for July 16

The City of St. John’s is hosting its annual Party in the Park on Wednesday, July 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the lawn by the Bowring Park Bungalow. Party in the Park is a free event for seniors which includes local entertainment along with light refreshments, giveaways and more. 

This year’s entertainers include Elaine Dunphy, The Boogie Babes, Paddy Burke and youth performer Brett Crane.

Traffic Advisory: Lambe’s Lane Now Open as One-Way Street

The City of St. John’s is advising the public that Lambe’s Lane is now open to traffic as a one-way street.

Please note:

• Access is from Westerland Road only, exiting onto Elizabeth Avenue.
• There is no access to Lambe’s Lane from Elizabeth Avenue.

• Vehicles exiting the Indigo/Church Parking Lot or Memorial University’s Printing Services will no longer be able to turn right onto Lambe’s Lane to access Westerland Road.

City Releases What We Heard Reports for Cowan Heights and University Area Neighbourhood Plans

Canada Day Fireworks Cancelled Due to Current Fire Index Conditions

Please be advised that the City of St. John’s fireworks planned for 10 p.m. on July 1 are cancelled due to current Provincial fire index rating for our Region. The use of personal/backyard fireworks is also strictly prohibited.
