The deadline to apply for a vacancy that exists on the Youth Engagement Working Group has been extended to Sunday, June 8, 2025.

Applications Now Open: Traffic Box Art Program

The City of St. John’s is now accepting applications for the 2025 Traffic Box Art Program.

This initiative engages visual artists to design and paint original artwork on traffic signal boxes—metal cabinets located at intersections and roadsides that house traffic signal controls. By transforming these functional structures into works of art, the program enhances the character of neighbourhoods, beautifies public spaces, and helps deter vandalism.

Temporary Traffic Calming Locations for 2025

The City of St. John’s is implementing additional traffic calming measures in 2025. Temporary speed cushions will be installed this summer and removed in late fall at the following locations:

• Gleneyre Street – between Birchwynd Street and Virginia Road
• Empire Avenue – between Circular Road and Rennies Mill Road

• Smithville Crescent – between Strawberry Marsh Road and Long Pond Road
