April 16 to 22 is Volunteer Week. Congratulations and thank-you to all staff who volunteer in our community. Your efforts help to make St. John’s a great place to live, learn, work, play and visit.

Gleneyre Street Road Closure and Detour

Motorists are advised that Gleneyre Street will be closed to through traffic near the Torbay Road intersection. A detour will be in place to access the neighbourhood via Highland Drive, Dunlea Street and Birchwynd Street to facilitate construction works associated with the Gleneyre Street culvert replacement project.

DescriptionThe proposed application is to change the use from an Office Use (Allan Sooley Plumbing) to a Restaurant Use (take-out). Hours of operation will be 7 days a week from 3 p.m.- 10 p.m. The floor area of the business will remain at approximately 87m2 and is located on the ground floor. On-site parking is provided.

Motorists are advised there will be a detour in place on Bay Bulls Road from Old Bay Bulls Road to Walsh's Lane to facilitate construction works associated with the Goulds Servicing (Phase 2) Sanitary Trunk Sewer project.

Sanitary Sewer Construction Project Continues on Bay Bulls Road

A construction project to install sewer infrastructure on Bay Bulls Road, between Old Bay Bulls Road and Walsh’s Lane, will impact traffic and pedestrians from April 17 until August 2023.
A detour will direct traffic along Old Bay Bulls Road and Walsh’s Lane, with local traffic only permitted in the work site on Bay Bulls Road.

Book a Bulk Waste Appointment

Starting on Tuesday, April 18 at 10 a.m. residents of St. John's can book a free curbside collection appointment for bulk waste.
Bulk garbage and metal collection will occur by waste area. For example, if your regular collection day is Monday, that is area 1 and once an appointment is made your pickup will be between May 8 and 12. See the complete schedule below.

Winter Parking Restrictions Lifted

The following winter parking restrictions are lifted as of 4 p.m. today (Mon. April 10, 2023):
- Overnight winter parking restriction (outside the designated downtown and business district)
- Business District winter parking restriction in the downtown
The 24-Hour Parking Restriction and Downtown Snow Removal operations can be implemented at any time if conditions warrant. You can subscribe to receive an email when these parking restrictions are in implemented.
