The Seabourn Venture with 264 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2 and depart at 5 p.m.

The Arcadia with 1266 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at noon on Friday, Sept. 30 and depart at 10 p.m.

Cat Adoption Fee Half Price: Humane Services

The Animal Care and Adoption Centre at 81 Higgins Line is over capacity with over 50 adult cats looking for their forever homes. Starting immediately, adoption fees for all adult cats are half price, at $69. A complete listing of all our available cats can be found on our website.
Viewing times are booked by appointment only. To book a time, please complete an adoption questionnaire and email it to humaneservices@stjohns.ca.

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation Closures

Most City offices and facilities are closed on Friday, Sept. 30 to recognize and commemorate the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
Please note the following for Friday, Sept. 30:
- Garbage and recycling will be collected
- The Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is open for commercial and residential users
- All recreation facilities are closed
- The Visitor Information Centre at 348 Water Street is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Lane Reductions/ Closures: Run for the Cure

To facilitate the Run for the Cure there will be lane reductions/closures on Sunday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. on the following streets:
- The Boulevard
- Quidi Vidi Village Road
- Forest Road (westbound - Quidi Vidi Village Road to Empire Avenue)
- Empire Avenue (westbound - Forest Road to King's Bridge Road)
- Lake Avenue
- Carnell Drive

Resident Satisfaction Survey Begins Sept 28

Over the next two weeks residents of St. John’s may be contacted by MQO Research to participate in the City’s resident satisfaction survey. The survey was first conducted in 2018, then repeated in 2020. Residents will be contacted by phone and selected through a random process. Although participation is voluntary, co-operation is encouraged to ensure that the information collected is as accurate and representative of the population as possible. Road Construction: September 26 to 30

Contractors may be working on the following streets from September 26 to 30 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:
- Allandale Road (Pippy Park Golf Club to the end)
