Young Voices in Business Event

In recognition of Global Entrepreneurship Week (November 18 to 24, 2024), the City of St. John’s is hosting Young Voices in Business, an event for 18 to 30-year-olds interested in starting or growing a business. Event details are as follows:

• Date: Thursday, November 21
• Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
• Location: St. John’s Community Market, 245 Freshwater Rd

The free event, which is hosted by City’s Youth Engagement Working Group, will focus on young business owners sharing their stories and experiences.

Help Shape Youth Programs at Kilbride Community Centre

The City of St. John’s invites youth between the ages of 10 and 18 and/or their parents or guardians to complete a short survey to tell us what programs and services they would like to have at the Kilbride Community Centre. The survey will be active from November 4 to November 25.

Feedback collected will help staff determine the types of activities that will be offered at the Kilbride Community Centre, ensuring they meet the needs and preferences of Kilbride’s youth.

Ward 3 By-Election Day

Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 5, residents living in Ward 3 of the City of St. John's will elect a new Councillor. The candidates are:

Voting

The deadline to return completed voting kits by mail was October 30, 2024. Residents that still need to cast their vote can deposit their completed vote-by-mail kit at the green drop box situated outside City Hall up until 8 p.m. on November 5.

Change You Clocks, Change Your Batteries

On Sunday, November 3, Daylight Savings Time ends at 2 a.m., so get ready to put your clocks back. The St. John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) wishes to remind residents of the importance of changing and testing the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors when setting the clocks back for daylight saving time. The following safety tips will help to keep both you and your family safe.
