Maggie Burton (she/her/elle) is a St. John's City Councillor, musician, poet, and violin teacher. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from Memorial University where she specialized in violin and music history. In addition to her background in music, Maggie has experience working internationally as a management consultant and leadership coach, and spent several years working in childcare settings. She grew up in Brigus and currently lives downtown with her partner, Michael, and her 3 (soon to be 4!) young children.
First elected in 2017, Maggie is happy to be serving a second term as an at-large Councillor where she strives to make St. John’s a more inclusive and sustainable city. She maintains membership on the St. John's Urban Indigenous Coalition, First Voice; the St. John's Food Policy Council; Living in Community; and several other local boards and committees.
