All of our recreation programs welcome individuals of all abilities to participate.
Inclusive recreation programs offer participants an opportunity to build the necessary skills for active living in a safe and supportive atmosphere.
Adapted swim lessons are available for swimmers with disabilities. Swim progressions are broken down into small, manageable steps to create a positive learning environment, making success more achievable.
Fit finders group recreation sessions provide recreation and leisure opportunities to groups of individuals that experience ability-related barriers to participating in community programs. Groups participate in one-to-two-hour sessions with dedicated and experienced recreation staff and their group leader.

Pursuing Active Lifestyles is designed for participants aged 18+ who have mild to moderate developmental disabilities. Take part in recreation and leisure activities in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with caring leaders. To ensure a safe and inclusive environment meeting all participants' needs, please complete the Inclusive Services application.
Therapeutic recreation referrals use a person's strength, needs and interests to set goals for recreation. Certified staff will help the participant develop the skills and knowledge to participate in City of St. John's activities with minimal support. Participants may be self-referred or referred by an organization. Please complete the therapeutic recreation referral [insert link to form once available] form.
TIME™ (Together in Movement and Exercise) is a community-based exercise program for adults with balance and mobility limitations. You must be able to walk 10 meters with or without aide. We require a referral from one of the following; a certified therapeutic recreation specialist, physician, physiotherapist, registered nurse, or a nurse practitioner.
