Backyard Composting Sessions This Fall

Backyard composting reduces climate changing emissions and returns much needed carbon back into the earth for healthy soil, trees and plants.

The City of St. John’s, in partnership with MUN Botanical Garden and the MMSB, offer a free backyard composting information course both in-person and online. The online course is available 24/7/365 and can be completed at a time that is convenient for you on the MUN Botanical Garden compost website. For residents of St. John’s only, once the course is completed, you can purchase a compost bin at a discounted price.

The following upcoming in-person sessions are planned. Please note that registration is not required.

  • Kenmount Terrace Community Centre, 85 Messenger Drive: Tuesday, Sept. 20 – 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Southlands Community Centre, 40 Teakwood Drive: Monday, Oct. 3 – 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Paul Reynolds Community Centre, 35 Carrick Drive: Tuesday, Nov. 1 – 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
