City Launches New Community-Building Initiative: Neighbourhood Connect

The City of St. John's is proud to launch Neighbourhood Connect, a new Healthy City initiative designed to bring residents together through inclusive, engaging, and family-friendly events.

Neighbourhood Connect is more than just a series of events — it’s a movement to foster stronger, healthier, and more connected neighbourhoods. The initiative focuses on creating welcoming spaces where residents can meet, share helpful information, and build meaningful relationships.

To kick off Neighbourhood Connect, the City will host a launch event on Saturday, June 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Kelly’s Brook Park. June also marks the ParticipACTION Community Challenge, and this event provides a great opportunity to be active and have fun.

There are a number of activities included during the event, including:

  • Giant games & rec equipment – fun for all ages
  • Try adaptive equipment – inclusive and hands-on
  • Group exercise session – led by Memorial’s School of Human Kinetics and Recreation

Residents are encouraged to bring a water bottle, wear comfy shoes, and join in a celebration of connection, movement, and community spirit.

Stay tuned for more Neighbourhood Connect events across the city throughout the year.
