City of St. John’s Transitioning to a New Website on June 8
The City of St. John’s will transition to a new website platform on June 8 as its current content management system has reached its end of life. This transition also provides an opportunity to improve the website experience for residents, businesses, and visitors through enhanced navigation, improved accessibility features, and a more user-focused design.
The transition will begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. on June 8. During this time, the website will be unavailable for approximately 30 minutes while the new platform is launched.
Residents may experience the following temporary disruptions as the transition is completed:
- Submissions to the Community Event Calendar will remain unavailable until the transition is complete. Existing events will continue to be displayed.
- Following the transition, users may temporarily experience broken or outdated links from bookmarked pages or search engines.
- Information may be located in different sections of the website due to updated navigation and site organization.
- City staff will be actively monitoring the website following launch and addressing any broken links or issues that are identified. While many issues will be resolved quickly, some may take several hours to identify and correct.
- Individuals currently subscribed to receive City news and notifications will not need to re-subscribe. Subscriber information will be transferred to the new platform; however, subscription categories have been updated, and users may wish to review their preferences once the new website is live.
- Subscriber information will be transferred to the new platform on June 9. However, individuals who subscribe during the transition period may not be included in the transfer and may need to subscribe again once the new website is live.
We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we complete this important upgrade. If you experience any issues or require assistance following the transition, please contact Access St. John’s by calling 311 or 709-754-CITY (2489), emailing access@stjohns.ca or by submitting an inquiry online.
