City Schedule December Holidays 2024
Due to the upcoming holidays most City offices and facilities are closed;
- Noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24, re-opening on Friday, Dec. 27
- Noon on Tuesday, Dec. 31, re-opening on Thursday, Jan. 2
The next City Council meeting takes place at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14 and the next Committee of the Whole meeting will take place at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Please note:
- Access St. John’s is available to residents 24/7; however front counter service is unavailable during times noted above.
- All City parking by-laws are still in effect, however paid parking regulations will not be enforced on Wednesday, Dec. 25, Thursday, Dec. 26 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Paid parking regulations are in effect on all other weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Animal Care and Adoption Centre will be closed as noted above, but staff will be available for emergency care during the holidays. In the event of an emergency, please contact Access St. John’s at 311 or 754-CITY (2489).
- The Quidi Vidi dog park and walking trail will be closed due to New Year’s Eve fireworks on Dec. 31 and will reopen on Jan. 1 after the site has been checked and deemed clear. If the fireworks display is postponed until Jan. 1, the dog park and walking trail will be closed until after it is checked on Jan. 2.

All other recreation facilities are closed from noon Tuesday, Dec. 24 and re-open on Thursday, Jan. 2, with the exception of Kenmount Terrace Community Centre which is open on Dec 27 for scheduled rentals.
Waste Collection
There is no waste collection on Wednesday, Dec. 25, Thursday, Dec. 26 or Wednesday, January 1. Learn your collection schedule and sign up for reminders at CurbitStJohns.ca.

Christmas Tree Drop Off Locations
Only natural, undecorated trees are accepted as they will be mulched for use in landscaping projects in City parks and open spaces. Please do not bundle or tie the tree.
- Quidi Vidi Lake, large gravel parking lot off The Boulevard; Friday, Dec. 27 to Sunday, Jan. 12; excluding Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, when the parking lot will be closed due to the New Years fireworks display. If the fireworks display is postponed until Jan. 1, then the parking lot will be closed for the Christmas tree drop off until Jan. 2.
- Robin Hood Bay Residential Drop-Off, 340 East White Hills Road, open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. except statutory holidays. Visit RobinHoodBay.ca for hours of operation.
The Loop Bannerman Park
Once opened for the season, The Loop at Bannerman Park will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., including holidays. Ice maintenance will occur daily from 1 to 2 p.m. with additional maintenance Friday to Monday from 4 to 5 p.m. There will be no ice maintenance in the afternoon on Dec. 24 or all-day Dec. 25.
