Due to the upcoming holidays most City offices and facilities are closed;

• Noon on Friday, Dec. 23, re-opening on Wednesday, Dec. 28
• Noon on Friday, Dec. 30, re-opening on Tuesday, Jan. 3

The next City Council meeting takes place at 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9 and the next Committee of the Whole meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Please note:

• Access St. John’s is available to residents 24/7; however front counter service is unavailable during times noted above.
• All City parking by-laws are still in effect, while paid parking regulations will not be enforced on Monday, Dec. 26, Tuesday, Dec. 27; and Monday, Jan. 2. Paid parking regulations are in effect on all other weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Animal Care and Adoption Centre will be closed as noted above but staff will be available for emergency care during the holidays. In the event of an emergency, please contact Access St. John’s at 311 or 754-CITY (2489).
• The Quidi Vidi dog park and walking trail will be closed due to New Year’s Eve fireworks on Dec. 31 and will reopen on Jan. 1 after the site has been checked and deemed clear. If the fireworks display is postponed until Jan. 1, the dog park and walking trail will be closed until after it is checked on Jan. 2.
• The Robin Hood Bay Regional Waste Management Facility is closing at noon Saturday, Dec. 24 and is reopening 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27; and is closing noon Saturday, Dec. 31 and is reopening 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2.

All other recreation facilities are closed from noon Friday, Dec. 23 and re-open Tuesday, Jan. 3 with the exception of Kenmount Terrace Community Centre which is opened for scheduled rentals.

Waste Collection

Waste and recycling will not occur on Monday, Dec. 26, it will be collected on Tues. Dec. 27, along with regular Tuesday collection. Waste collection time may be later than usual as waste from two areas will be collected. Learn your collection schedule and sign up for reminders at CurbitStJohns.ca.

Christmas Tree Drop Off Locations

Only natural, undecorated trees are accepted as they will be mulched for use in landscaping projects in City parks and open spaces. Please do not bundle or tie the tree.

• Quidi Vidi Lake, large gravel parking lot off The Boulevard; Wednesday, Dec. 28 to Sunday, Jan. 8; excluding Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 when the parking lot will be closed due to the New Years fireworks display. If the fireworks display is postponed until Jan. 1, then the parking lot will be closed for the Christmas tree drop off until Jan. 2.

• Robin Hood Bay Residential Drop-Off, 340 East White Hills Road, open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the exception of Dec. 31 closing at noon, visit CurbitStJohns.ca for the hours of operation.

The Loop Bannerman Park

The Loop at Bannerman Park is open for the season. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily including holidays. Ice maintenance occurs daily from 1 to 2 p.m. with additional maintenance Friday to Monday from 4 to 5 p.m. There will be no ice maintenance in the afternoon on Dec. 24 or all day Dec. 25.
