City Seeking Feedback on Downtown Pedestrian Mall
The City of St. John’s is seeking feedback to enhance and improve the user experience at the Downtown Pedestrian Mall.
“The Downtown Pedestrian Mall has become a destination that blends culture, entertainment, and community,” said Ward 1 Councillor Jill Bruce and lead for Special Events and Cruise. “We are continuously looking for ways to enhance the experience for both residents and visitors.”
Engagement will be open from August 14 to September 29. Feedback can be provided by:
- Completing an online survey
- Providing written feedback and ideas through the Engage St. John's project page
- Sending an email to engage@stjohns.ca; or
- Calling 311 and asking to speak to a member of the project team.
Additionally, in-person surveys will be conducted from August 14 to 30 at the Downtown Pedestrian Mall.
“We want to understand what visitors like and what changes they would like to see,” said Councillor Bruce. “We also want to hear from non-visitors to find out why they currently do not visit the Downtown Pedestrian Mall and what changes would increase their interest”.
This engagement is part of a long-term plan to prepare for 2026 and beyond. Current efforts focus on residents and visitors, with engagement for the business community beginning in 2025.
The City has a strategic direction to be a Connected City where people feel connected, have a sense of belonging and are actively engaged in community life. Developing and delivering programs, services and public spaces that build safe, healthy and vibrant communities is key to advancing this direction.
