Today, City Council met with representatives of Metrobus to discuss the issue of the bus shelter outside The Gathering Place. Council and Metrobus agree this bus shelter must stay in place for the time being.

There are ongoing safety and service issues associated with this shelter that must be addressed. City staff, together with representatives of the St. John’s Transportation Commission, will be reaching out to The Gathering Place to develop a plan for the management of this bus shelter.

In addition, Mayor Breen will be reaching out to Minister John Abbott to discuss the increasing concern of homelessness in our community.
