This holiday season consider giving the gift of play to a child in need by donating to the REAL Program.

The REAL Program is a nonprofit program that provides recreation and leisure opportunities to children and youth in financial need by matching them with an organized recreational activity of their choice. It costs approximately $200 to provide a program or class space for one young person.

Donations of $20 or above will receive a tax receipt upon request. Holiday-themed cards are also available for purchase at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre and H.G.R. Mews Community Centre and are $20 for five cards.

The City of St. John’s supports the REAL Program by providing office space and staff support so that 100 per cent of all funds raised or donated go directly to paying for program registration, equipment and transportation.
