This is an unprecedented situation, and our staff are working quickly to finalize a strong plan that safeguards both access to voting and the integrity of the election.

St. John’s conducts its elections primarily by vote-by-mail, with roughly 90 percent of ballots cast this way in past elections. In-person voting options are also available for residents who wish to vote on election day.

Over the weekend, election staff developed contingency measures and began assessing how many vote-by-mail kits may still be within the postal system. We expect to have this information today, which will allow us to finalize our plans and provide a public update later today.
