Funding Available for Heritage Maintenance and Conservation
If you own a house or commercial property in a Heritage Area, or if you own a designated Heritage Building, you can apply for maintenance or conservation funding until May 1.
The City’s Heritage Financial Incentives Program aims to conserve heritage resources by assisting property owners with grant funding available each year. Since the incentive program began in 2016, over $310,000 in grant funding has been awarded to 118 successful applicants.
Two types of grants are available:
- Heritage Maintenance Grant - up to 25 per cent of material and labour costs to a maximum of $1,000 for maintenance and repair to façade elements bordering a public street.
- Heritage Conservation Grant - up to 25 per cent of material and labour costs to a maximum of $5,000 for the preservation, restoration and/or replacement of façade elements bordering a public street.
Applications will be accepted until May 1, 2023.
