This holiday season consider giving the gift of play to a child in need by donating to the REAL Program.

The REAL Program is a nonprofit program that provides recreation and leisure opportunities to children and youth in financial need by matching them with an organized recreational activity of their choice. It costs approximately $200 to provide a program or class space for one young person.

It’s easy to donate: online, by telephone or in-person. Donations of $20 or above will receive a tax receipt upon request. Holiday-themed cards are available for purchase at Paul Reynolds Community Centre and H.G.R. Mews Community Centre, 5 for $20.

The City of St. John’s supports the REAL Program by providing office space and staff support so that 100% of all funds raised or donated go to the cost of programs, equipment, and transportation.
