Last Chance – Public Engagement for New Crime and Violence Prevention Strategy
In February, we opened a new engagement opportunity seeking input and feedback from residents and the community to aid in the development and facilitation of a new crime and violence prevention strategy. The primary focus of this strategy is to address the social determinants of violence and crime, particularly for children, youth, young adults, and their families. While the City does not provide direct services or programs related to public safety or crime prevention, it acts as an important facilitator in developing long term strategic planning and concrete initiatives to improve community safety.
This engagement opportunity will conclude on March 28, 2024, but you still have time to have your say!

Public Meeting – Tuesday, March 26
The final public meeting for this engagement opportunity will take place on March 26 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Foran Greene Room at City Hall. This meeting is an opportunity for residents to provide in-person feedback through facilitated discussion. Those interested in attending should register in advance.
Take Our Survey
We know there are a lot of online statistics on crime and violence. However, local data captured through residents' experiences and perceptions is important. We encourage residents to provide feedback by taking our anonymous online survey.
Other Ways to Engage
Residents can provide feedback by:
- Submitting ideas on the EngageStJohns.ca project page;
- Email to Engage@StJohns.ca; and/or
- Phone by dialing 311 and asking to speak to a member of the project team.
