My New St. John’s Expo Event October 14

The St. John’s Local Immigration Partnership is proud to host its fifth annual My New St. John’s Expo for newcomers and friends. The Expo takes place Tuesday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. John’s Community Market, 245 Freshwater Road. Admission is free.

If you are new to St. John’s, the Expo is your opportunity to:

  • Discover what St. John’s has to offer
  • Connect with community organizations staffed by a diverse group of community leaders
  • Learn about programs and services designed to help you settle in our municipality
  • Meet new people in your community

Pathway to Cultural Intelligence

Date: Tuesday, October 14
Time: 1 to 2 p.m.

This session is facilitated by the Association for New Canadians.

Join us for an engaging and insightful workshop that explores how we can build stronger, more inclusive communities through cultural understanding. Pathway to Cultural Intelligence offers a foundational introduction to immigrant and refugee experiences, multilingual assets and challenges, demographic trends, and stages of integration — all from a provincial perspective.

Participants will develop practical skills to interact effectively and respectfully with culturally diverse individuals in workplaces, businesses, and community settings. Through guided reflection and discussion, you’ll explore your own cultural perspectives, uncover common cultural differences, and discover strategies for meaningful cross-cultural communication.

Course Objectives:

  • Foster compassion and reduce judgment and misunderstanding
  • Promote acceptance of diverse lived experiences
  • Acknowledge and identify privilege
  • Encourage anti-bias thinking
  • Strengthen your Cultural Intelligence (CQ)


Employment Plan in Action – Building Your Career Path in Canada

Join us for an empowering Employment Plan Session—a free one-hour training designed to help you set clear career goals, identify your strengths, and build a job search strategy that truly works for you.
