Notice to Motorists - Regatta Eve & Regatta Day
Road closures and detours are in effect this week, due to the Regatta.
These changes will be in effect starting on the eve of Regatta, Tuesday August 1, 2023 through to the end of Regatta Day, Wednesday August 2, 2023 (or whichever days Regatta Eve and Regatta Day fall on).
Road Closures
Access will only be permitted for emergency and service vehicles on roads that are closed for Regatta Eve and Regatta Day. Residents who live on these roads that must use their vehicles on Regatta Day are encouraged to park outside the Regatta site. Proof of residency and vehicle ownership will be required to access their residence on regatta day if other arrangements cannot be made. Please contact Access St. John’s at 311 for more information.
These road restrictions are necessary to ensure the safety of pedestrians around the Regatta Site. The City thanks residents in advance for their assistance and apologizes for any inconvenience.
5 p.m. to 11 p.m. (times subject to change based on the level of pedestrian activity):

- Lake Avenue
- Clancey Drive
- Regatta Day Road Closures
7:00 a.m. to 30 minutes after the last race or until the level of pedestrian activity allows safe vehicular access:
- Carnell Drive
- Circular Road - Bannerman Street to Empire Avenue
- Clancey Drive
- Empire Avenue - Rennies Mill Road to Forest Road
- Forest Road
- Kenna’s Hill
- King’s Bridge Road
- Lake Avenue
- Lakeview Avenue
- Quidi Vidi Village Road
- Legion Road
- Pleasantville Avenue - Taylor Place to The Boulevard
- The Boulevard – access to the Legion will be permitted via East White Hills Road only
- Winter Avenue
- New Cove Road – Bristol Street to King’s Bridge Road
No Parking/ Tow Away Zones
7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Regatta Day:
- Andrews Street – both sides
- Berteau Avenue - east side
- Bristol Street - west side
- Carnell Drive - both sides
- Circular Road - north side Rennies Mill Road to Empire Avenue
- Circular Road – south side Monkstown Road to Rennies Mill Road
- Clancey Drive - both sides
- East Drive – north/east side
- Glenridge Crescent – inside curve
- Judge Place – west side
- Lake Avenue – both sides
- Lakeview Avenue – both sides
- Langley Road - both sides
- Legion Road – both sides
- Montgomery Street - west side
- Parsons Road - north side
- Rennies Mill Road - south/west side Carpasian Road to Portugal Cove Road
- Rennies Mill Road – west side Empire Avenue to Military Road
- Roosevelt Avenue - both sides
- Selfridge Road - both sides
- The Boulevard - both sides
- Tunis Court - inside curve
- Winter Avenue - north side
Vehicles parked on any street designated as “No Parking – Tow Away” or anywhere that they are obstructing traffic (including the Regatta site) will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense.
No Parking Except by Permit/ Tow Away Zone
- Marquee Parking area on The Boulevard
- Dominion Parking Lot
Impaired Mobility Parking
Parking for persons with Impaired Mobility Parking Permits will be available at the Dominion Parking Lot on a first come first served basis.
Metrobus Shuttle Service
Free Park N' Ride service is available on Regatta Eve, Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Shuttles will run on a load and go basis from Confederation Building to King’s Bridge Road from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
Metrobus runs several shuttle routes to Quidi Vidi Lake on Regatta Day. For information on routes and schedules go to the Metrobus website at www.metrobus.com or call Ride Guide at 722-9400.
