The ParticipACTION Community Challenge presented by Novo Nordisk returns this year to help everyone enjoy the many physical, social and mental health benefits of getting active together!

This national initiative, which is kicking off on National Health and Fitness Day (June 1, 2024), encourages everyone in Canada to get active throughout the month of June. At the end of the challenge, Canada’s Most Active Community will be awarded $100,000 to support local physical activity and sport initiatives.

To help rally the City of St. John’s and win the grand prize this year, we need everyone to participate!

• Local governments and organizations: Register on the ParticipACTION website, then throughout June, track the number of people getting active and the incidences of physical activity to help our community compete for the title.
• Individuals: Sign up on the ParticipACTION website, commit to getting active throughout June and browse different opportunities to help you move more where you live, learn and/or work!

Join us for a variety of upcoming events:

• Saturday, June 1, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm – Community Walk and Wheel at Kenny’s Pond (hosted by City of St. John’s)
• Each Wednesday in June, 1:00pm – Wellness Walk (hosted by the MUN School of Human Kinetics and Recreation; participants will meet in the lobby of the MUN Physical Education Building and walk the loop around Long Pond).
• Saturday, June 29, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm – Community Walk and Wheel at Bidgood Park (hosted by City of St. John’s)

About the ParticipACTION Community Challenge presented by Novo Nordisk

The Community Challenge is a national physical activity and sport initiative that encourages everyone in Canada to get active throughout June in search of Canada’s Most Active Community. The challenge is open to all communities and individuals, ultimately recognizing Canada’s Most Active Community and awarding it with $100,000 to support local physical activity and sport initiatives. In addition to the national winner, there is also a prize for the most active community in each province and territory as
well as weekly organization prizes to be awarded throughout June.
