PSA - Ward 4 By-Election Day

Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12, residents living in Ward 4 of the City of St. John's will elect a new Councillor. The candidates are:

  • Tom Davis
  • Nicholas Hillier
  • Myles Russell
  • Greg Smith

Due to the election, the Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for Tuesday will now take place at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

Voting

The deadline to return completed voting kits by mail was March 7, 2024. Residents that still need to cast their vote can deposit their completed vote-by-mail kit at the green drop box situated outside City Hall up until 8 p.m. on March 12.

During election day tomorrow, voters may also drop-off completed kits or cast their ballots at one of the following satellite drop-off centres between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.:

  • Kenmount Terrace Community Centre, 85 Messenger Drive
  • Holiday Inn St. John’s, 180 Portugal Cove Road

Voters who intend to register to vote at satellite drop-off centre must have acceptable identification available.

Residents of Ward 4 that did not receive a kit should check that they are on the voters list. To determine if you are on the list and/or to register if you are not, visit the Voter Registration Portal at stjohns.ca.

Results

The results for the Ward 4 By-Election will be available after the polling stations close at 8 p.m. on March 12, 2024.

Once all final ballots are delivered to City Hall from the satellite drop off stations, the results will be posted online.

A PSA will be published on the city website after the results are available. There is no set time for the announcement of results.

Accessible Election

The City is committed to making elections accessible and seeks advice from the City’s Inclusion Advisory Committee to improve accessibility. Election information may be available in alternate format, including Braille voting materials.
