Space in Adult and Seniors Recreation Programs

There is space in our recreation programs for adults and seniors: ballroom dance, bridge, social time, chess, rug hooking and oil painting.

Beginner Ballroom Dance

Includes primarily Foxtrot, Jive and Waltz. Intended for beginners and those wishing to improve basic skills. Note: partner required.

Paul Reynolds Community Centre: Wednesdays, January 15 to April 2, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Intermediate Ballroom Dance

Intermediate dances such as the Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Quickstep and others, as time permits. Each with a pattern set to 16 bars of music. Note: Partner required.

Paul Reynolds Community Centre: Wednesdays, January 15 to April 2 from 8 to 9 p.m.

Bridge Level 1

You will be introduced to the game of contract bridge, a trick taking card game using a standard deck of cards played by four players in two competing partnerships. Learn how to count points, bid and score. This course is for beginners.

Kenmount Terrace Community Centre: Tuesdays, January 14 to April 1 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Bridge Level 3

This is for advanced bridge players, completion of bridge level 2 required.

Chess

Learn the basics of chess in this beginner class led by an experienced instructor.

H.G.R. Mews Community Centre: Tuesdays, January 14 to April 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Rug Hooking

Hook Your Favourite Childhood Fairy Tale

Beginner/Advanced Rug Hooking Workshop. Design a pattern for rug hooking purposes using perspective and the rule of thirds. Use a variety of fabrics including wool yarn, t-shirt, velour and wool fabric. Learn a variety of creative stitches such as chain, tunnel, brick, sculpting and add knitting and crochet to your piece.

No experience necessary, materials included.

Paul Reynold’s Community Centre: Thursdays, January 16 to January 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.
