Speed cushion trial on your street? Tell us what you think!

Surveys have now been distributed to households on streets that participated in the 2025 temporary speed cushion trial.

In line with the City’s Traffic Calming Policy, temporary speed cushions were installed from summer to late fall 2025 on:

  • Gleneyre Street
  • Empire Avenue (between Circular Road and Rennies Mill Road)
  • Smithville Crescent

With the trial now complete, residents of these streets are being asked to provide feedback on the project. At least 60% of survey respondents on a street must be in favour of constructing permanent speed cushions for the project to move ahead. If this threshold is not met, these traffic calming measures will not be installed and the project will be concluded.

If you live on one of these streets and haven’t received a survey, would like to request more information on traffic calming or discuss a concern about traffic in your neighbourhood, please contact our Transportation Division at trafficcalming@stjohns.ca, or contact Access St. John's by dialing 311.
