Storm Sewer and Shared-Use Path Upgrades to Begin on Whiteway Street
Storm sewer upgrades on Whiteway Street, from Elizabeth Avenue to approximately 97 Whiteway Street, will begin the week of August 3, 2026 and are scheduled for completion in October 2026 (subject to change).
As part of the project, the existing sidewalk on the south side of Whiteway Street, from Elizabeth Avenue to Guy Street, will be replaced with a shared-use path.
To facilitate construction, expect the following impacts:
- Traffic Delays: Motorists travelling through the area should expect delays. Traffic personnel and/or temporary traffic signals will be present.
- Sidewalk Closures: The sidewalk on the south side of Whiteway Street will be closed. Alternative pedestrian routes will be provided throughout construction.
- Water Service Disruptions: Residents in the area will experience a brief, temporary interruption to water service to facilitate the relocation of fire hydrants. The contractor will provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice to affected households by hand-delivered letter.
- Driveway/Vehicle Access Restrictions: Properties in the area may be subject to temporary loss of driveway/vehicle access to facilitate construction activities. The contractor will provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice to affected households by hand-delivered letter.
- Community Mailbox Relocation: Community mailboxes in the area will be temporarily relocated to accommodate construction. Canada Post will notify affected users directly.
Please follow all posted signage, barricades, and directions from traffic control personnel.
