Traffic Advisory - Canada Day/Memorial Day 2026
Downtown Area
To facilitate the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, please note the following road closures and no parking (tow away) restrictions on Wednesday, July 1:
Road Closures:
- Garrison Hill (9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) - Residents only; no access to Queen’s Road
- Queen’s Road, Long’s Hill to Victoria Street (9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.)
- Church Hill (9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.)
- Water Street, Prescott Street to Cochrane Street (10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
- Duckworth Street, Church Hill to Prescott Street (10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.)
- Duckworth Street, Prescott Street to Cochrane Street (10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
- Ayre’s Cove (Noon to 12:30 p.m.)
- Harbour Drive, Ayre’s Cove to Clift Baird’s Cove (Noon to 12:30 p.m.)
No Parking (Tow Away) Zones:
- Queen’s Road, Long’s Hill to Garrison Hill (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
- Duckworth Street, Holloway Street to King’s Road (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
- Water Street, Prescott Street to Cochrane Street (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
- Harbour Drive, Ayre’s Cove to Clift Baird’s Cove (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
Quidi Vidi Area
To facilitate Canada Day festivities, please note the following road closures and no parking (tow away) restrictions on Wednesday, July 1:
Road Closures and No Parking (Tow Away) Zones:
- Carnell Drive (Noon to 11 p.m.)
- The Boulevard (8 to 11 p.m.)
- Lake Avenue (8 to 11 p.m.)
- Clancey Drive (8 to 11 p.m.)
- Lakeview Avenue (8 to 11 p.m.)
Signage will be in place. Vehicles parked in violation or parked such that they are obstructing traffic will be ticketed and towed. Parking lots on either side of the Quidi Vidi dog park will be closed. Accessible parking is available on a first come, first served basis in the Dominion parking lot. If the fireworks display is postponed, the same street and parking closures will apply on Thursday, July 2. Emergency vehicles and local traffic, including those visiting family, friends or businesses in the area will have access, while all through traffic will be detoured.
Partial Park and Trail Closures
The Quidi Vidi dog park, the Pump Park and a portion of the walking trail around Quidi Vidi Lake will be closed for fireworks set up on July 1 and will be reopened at noon the day after the fireworks display is completed.
Pet Owners
Fireworks can be stressful for some pets. Keep pets indoors during the fireworks. If they need to go outside, please keep them on a leash.
