Young Voices in Business Event
In recognition of Global Entrepreneurship Week (November 18 to 24, 2024), the City of St. John’s is hosting Young Voices in Business, an event for 18 to 30-year-olds interested in starting or growing a business. Event details are as follows:
- Date: Thursday, November 21
- Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
- Location: St. John’s Community Market, 245 Freshwater Rd
The free event, which is hosted by City’s Youth Engagement Working Group, will focus on young business owners sharing their stories and experiences.
The event will include a panel discussion featuring young entrepreneurs that will speak about their successes, challenges and lessons learned while building a business in St. John’s. Panelists include:
- Lauren Pecore, Smoodie Bowls
- Fadzai Muzhuzha, Continental Butchery
- Nancy Leung, Simply Wedding NL
The following local organizations will also have booths onsite to connect with participants and share valuable resources:
- City of St. John’s Tourism, Culture, and Business Growth Division
- Metro Business Opportunities
- Futurpreneur
- YMCA Business Planning Program
- Youth Ventures
- Study and Stay
- Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Co-operatives
Refreshments will be provided.
Providing opportunities for young people to connect and share stories of starting business was a recommendation from the City’s Youth Forum. Additionally, results from a survey taken by our City Influencers online community showed that young people wanted to hear from young people about starting a business, their experiences and the resources they used.

Space is limited. Participants should register online to reserve their spot.
