
The 2026 cruise ship season officially begins in the City of St. John’s on Thursday, May 21, as the City welcomes passengers and crew aboard SH Vega to the Port of St. John’s. SH Vega of Swan Hellenic is scheduled to arrive in St. John’s Harbour at 8 a.m. with approximately 269 passengers and crew on board.
The City, together with the St. John’s Port Authority and industry partners, is preparing for another active cruise season in 2026. Between May and October, 39 cruise ship visits are scheduled from 25 cruise lines, with more than 36,000 passengers expected to visit the city throughout the season.
St. John’s continues to strengthen its reputation as a premier North Atlantic cruise destination. The Port of St. John’s regularly welcomes vessels travelling on trans-Atlantic, Canada-New England, adventure expedition, and home-porting itineraries. Cruise lines continue to recognize St. John’s as a sought-after destination for travellers seeking authentic cultural experiences and scenic coastal landscapes.

Residents and visitors are reminded that parking along Harbour Drive may be limited during cruise ship visits to accommodate tour operators, passenger transportation, and port operations. Alternate parking remains available throughout the downtown area, including public parking lots and garages. Motorists are encouraged to observe posted parking signage and regulations.
