City Celebrates National Youth Week May 1 to 7
National Youth Week is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the talents and achievements of the young people in our community. Join us as we honour youth with a variety of free events and activities.
Proclamation
Mayor Danny Breen will officially proclaim National Youth Week in the City of St. John’s on Tuesday, April 22 at the regular City Council Meeting at 3 p.m.
Art Exhibit
An opening reception for the annual Youth Art Exhibit will take place on Tuesday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at the Wyatt Hall, City Hall. There will be light refreshments and youth entertainment. All are welcome to attend. The exhibit is open to the public on weekdays during the month of May from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Carnival
Junior and senior high-aged youth are invited to the Paul Reynolds Community Centre, 35 Carrick Drive, for a free Youth Carnival on Wednesday, May 7 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There will be giant-sized games, prizes and much more!
Free Swims
Thanks to Year of the Sport funding from the Provincial Government, Youth are invited to swim for free at the following swims:
- Everyone Welcome Swim - H.G.R. Mews Community Centre: Sunday, May 4 from 1 to 1:50 p.m.
- Everyone Welcome Swim - Paul Reynolds Community Centre: Wednesday, May 7 from 7 to 7:50 p.m.
Please note that registration for these swims is not required, but space is limited.
