Updated: Canada Day Celebrations - July 1st
Update
Please be advised that the City of St. John’s fireworks planned for 10 p.m. on July 1 are cancelled due to current Provincial fire index rating for our Region. As such, the below road closures will no longer be in place, with the exception of Carnell Drive which will be closed from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on July 1 to accommodate other Canada Day events.

Due to Canada Day events on July 1, please note the following traffic impacts for Tuesday, July 1, 2025:
Road Closure - Carnell Drive
Carnell Drive will be closed from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 1.
Road Closures/No Parking Tow Away Zones
Tuesday, July 1, 8 p.m. until end of fireworks.
- The Boulevard
- Lake Avenue
- Clancey Drive
- Lakeview Avenue
Vehicles parked in violation or parked such that they are obstructing traffic will be ticketed and towed. Parking lots on either side of the Quidi Vidi dog park will be closed. Accessible parking is available on a first come, first served basis in the Dominion parking lot. The same streets and parking lots will be closed approximately 8:00 p.m. should the fireworks be postponed to July 2.
Quidi Vidi Walking Trail – Partial Closure
The Quidi Vidi dog park and a portion of the walking trail around Quidi Vidi Lake will be closed for fireworks set up on July 1 and will be reopened at noon the day after the fireworks display is completed.
Pet Owners
If your pet needs to go outside during the fireworks display keep them on a leash for their safety.
Emergency vehicles and local traffic, including those visiting family, friends or businesses in the area will have access, while all through traffic will be detoured.
