Five Winter Parking Restrictions that Apply to Streets

Snow Routes

From December 1 to March 31 parking is prohibited 24-hours a day on streets designated as ‘No Parking Snow Route.’ These streets are marked with signs. Restrictions are in place so ice control and snow clearing equipment can safely service the streets.

Outside the Downtown Overnight Winter Parking Restriction

The Overnight Winter Parking Restriction for streets outside the designated downtown area will come into effect at 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

The restriction is in effect daily, and tickets can be issued to vehicles parked on the street between 12:30 and 7:30 a.m., regardless of weather and street conditions. The restriction may be declared prior to January 4, if it is deemed necessary by the Deputy City Manager of Public Works.

Downtown Business District Winter Parking Restriction

The Downtown Business District Parking Restriction will come into effect on Wednesday, January 4 unless otherwise declared by the Deputy City Manager of Public Works.

While the parking ban is in place, vehicles are not allowed to park in the early morning between 4 and 6 a.m., regardless of street or snow conditions, on:

  • Water Street, from Waldegrave Street to Prescott Street
  • Duckworth Street, from New Gower Street to Cochrane Street

24-Hour Parking Restriction

This parking restriction is applicable to streets outside the designated downtown area. The 24-Hour Parking Restriction will be declared when required. The purpose of the restriction is to keep roads free of parked vehicles so that crews can quickly and safely clear snow. Once declared, the restriction will be in place for 24-hours a day until it is lifted.

We will publish news articles and residents can receive emails of when the parking ban will be in effect and when it will end by subscribing to our news section under the “Parking Restrictions” category.
