Drifting Smoke in St. John’s RegionThe St. John’s Regional Fire Department is advising residents that wildfires are causing drifting smoke into St. John’s and surrounding areas which may affect air quality in our area. We recommend that residents turn off air exchangers and HVAC units to help reduce indoor smoke exposure.

Changes to Fire Risk CommunicationThe St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) will no longer issue separate fire advisories. Instead, we encourage all residents to regularly check the Provincial Fire Hazard Map provided by the Department of Fisheries, Forestry, and Agriculture and to follow the associated guidelines.

Fire Ban Lifted for Jurisdiction of SJRFD - June 25, 2025As the Provincial fire ban has now been lifted, the St. John’s Regional Fire Department informs all residents that the fire ban covering the Region including the City of St. John’s, City of Mount Pearl and Town of Paradise has also been lifted with immediate effect.
