All taxicab companies and vehicles operating in the City of St. John’s must be licensed annually.

The taxi industry is regulated under the St. John’s Taxi By-Law, which limits the total number of operator licences issued each calendar year to 374. Of these, ten licences are reserved for accessible taxis.

Fees

• Taxicab Operator's License: $100 per year
• Issue of Substitute Decals: $20 per year
• Transfer of Taxicab Operator's License: $100 per year
• Taxi Stand License: $50 per year

Fees can be paid to Access St. John's by calling 311 or 754-CITY (2489) or visiting the Access Centre at City Hall, first floor, 10 New Gower Street.
