Lodging House Licence

Planning to operate a dwelling which can accommodate between 5 and 16 people who share a common kitchen and/or bathroom facilities? You'll need a lodging house license. Establishments which offer boarding to four people or less generally do not fall into this category. Lodging houses are inspected and licensed annually.

A license costs $100 per year.

Apply for a Lodging House Licence

To operate a lodging house, you must first obtain a licence. As lodging houses are a discretionary use, a development application is required and must be approved before a licence can be issued.

Fees can be paid to Access St. John's by calling 311 or 754-CITY (2489) or visiting the Access Centre at City Hall, first floor, 10 New Gower Street.
