The City of St. John’s is moving forward with plans to construct a new state-of-the-art fire station in the Goulds, setting a new standard for sustainable municipal infrastructure.

The following cruise ships are scheduled to arrive in the port of St. John's: 

• Volendam at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, and departs 5 p.m.
• Norwegian Jewel at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3 and departs at 6 p.m.
• The Seven Seas Splendor at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3 and departs at 8 p.m.

Contractors may be working on multiple streets from September 1 to 6 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs.

To accommodate road and sidewalk upgrades on Freshwater Road/Kenmount Road between Polina Road and Crosbie Road, a number of traffic impacts will be in effect starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2.

Effective September 3, 2025, the City of St. John’s will update school zone speed limit times to begin 30 minutes earlier, aligning with the Newfoundland and Labrador

Due to the Labour Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 1, all City offices and facilities will be closed. Some municipal services will operate on modified schedules, while select parks and amenities will remain open.

Please be advised that the swimming pool at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre will be closed for annual scheduled maintenance from Sunday, August 31 to Saturday, September 20 inclusive.
