The City of St. John’s and the Provincial Government are providing an update on the ongoing response to serious public safety concerns at Cochrane Pond Park.

To facilitate filming for the TV show, Saint Pierre, the following road closures will occur Wednesday, July 8 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The City of St. John’s announces that the contract has been awarded to construct a new state-of-the-art fire station in the Goulds. 

Located at 371 Main Road, the new Goulds Fire Station will provide firefighters with a modern, functional facility featuring three drive-through apparatus bays, kitchen and living areas, sleeping quarters, training facilities, and administrative space.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from July 6 to 11, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation.

The City of St. John’s wishes to advise residents that Bannerman Park, including the pool, splash pad, and playground, and St. Pat's Ballfield will be closed all day on Friday, July 3, 2026 to facilitate Japanese Beetle Treatment.

Take notice that St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 65, 2026, adopted on June 2, 2026, has been registered by the Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs.

The Canada Day fireworks display has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled due to the provincial Fire Weather Index.

The City of St. John’s wishes to advise residents that Bannerman Park, including the playground and splash pad, and St. Pat's Ballfield will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. to facilitate Japanese Beetle Treatment. The Bannerman Pool House will remain open throughout the day.
