The City of St. John’s has earned one of the highest environmental transparency ratings globally, receiving an A grade from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for 2025.

Due to forecasted high winds, curbside waste collection is cancelled for Monday, January 12, 2026. Collection will take place on Tuesday, January 13, along with regularly scheduled waste collection for that day.

The City of St. John’s advises that lane and leisure swims scheduled for 7 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre and H.G.R. Mews Community Centre are cancelled due to expected weather conditions.

On-street overnight parking bans are in effect starting Saturday, January 3 and ending at 7:30 a.m.

The City is considering a text amendment to the Envision St. John’s Development Regulations to update public consultation requirements and meet new requirements of the Urban and Rural Planning Act.
