Please be advised that a contractor will be working in the George Street area to conduct sewer inspections starting Monday, October 12, for approximately 10 days.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from October 12 to 17 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas.

The City of St. John’s wishes to advise residents that Hussey Drive Playground is currently closed for maintenance until October 9, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday on Monday, October 12 all City offices and Community Centres will be closed.

To facilitate surface asphalt paving near the Portugal Cove Road roundabout, Major's Path will be closed between Airport Road and the roundabout from 8 p.m. Thursday, October 8, to 6 a.m. Friday, October 9.

Work at the intersection of Goldstone Street, Thorburn Road and Seaborn Street is expected to be completed on Thursday, October 8, weather permitting. New traffic changes will take effect once the work is complete.

The St. John’s Local Immigration Partnership is proud to host its sixth annual My New St. John’s event on October 22, 2026 from noon to 6:30 p.m. at the St. John’s Community Market, 245 Freshwater Road. The event is free to attend and there will be free on-site childminding from 2 to 6:30 p.m.

The City of St. John’s is pleased to advise residents that the new Grand Concourse Virginia Trail connection from Durness Street to McNiven Street is now open.

To facilitate surface asphalt paving, the new roundabout at the intersection of Portugal Cove Road, Airport Heights Drive and Major’s Path will be closed in all directions from 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6 to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7.
