The City of St. John’s is now accepting applications for the 2026 Traffic Box Art Program. This initiative engages visual artists to design and paint original artwork on traffic signal boxes—metal cabinets located at intersections and roadsides that house traffic signal controls.

Starting 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, additional appointments will become available to residents of St. John's to book free curbside collection for oversized waste.

Motorists are advised that sanitary sewer upgrades are taking place on Empire Avenue between Freshwater Road and O’Dea Place starting Tuesday, June 2 and continuing Monday to Friday until Tuesday, June 30.

The City of St. John’s wishes to advise residents that the washrooms at Bowring Park Duck Pond will be closed on Monday, June 1, 2026, for maintenance. 

Contractors may be working on the following streets from June 1 to 5 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs.  Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation.  

Impounded motor vehicles held by the City of St John’s, will be sold via online auction hosted by Fitzpatrick’s Auction from 5 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 08, 2026.

The city received an application for construction of a Single Detached Dwelling with a proposed Side Yard (abutting a street) of 5.6 metres.
