The City of St. John’s will complete the final stage of the Water Street Infrastructure Project in 2026, part of a multi-year capital initiative to replace and rehabilitate water mains and sewer lines, along with combined sewer separation, on Water Street between Waldegrave Street and Prescott Street.

One elevator remains out of service.
Due to forecasted high winds, curbside waste collection is cancelled for Friday, March 27, 2026. Collection will take place on Saturday, March 28.
Residents are reminded that garbage placed at the curb for collection must be completely covered from April 1 through November 30. Acceptable methods include using nets or containers (metal or plastic) with tightly closed lids.

The City of St. John’s is tentatively scheduled to begin construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Portugal Cove Road, Major’s Path and Airport Heights Drive on Monday, April 13, with work expected to continue until the end of 2026.
A Discretionary Use application has been submitted by Complete Holdings Inc. at 14 Forbes Street.
The weather-related parking ban outside the designated downtown area and business district is now lifted (Wednesday, March 25, 2026). The overnight winter parking ban remains in effect.
Waste collection originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 will now take place on Wednesday, March 25 along with regularly scheduled Wednesday collection. Collection times may be delayed.
